The 14th annual Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Contest invites youth aged 11–18 to creatively explore their relationship with the natural world. This year’s theme, “Connections to Nature: Looking Inside, Going Outside,” encourages reflection on how personal experiences with nature can inspire environmental action.
Eligibility:
• Open to students aged 11–18 worldwide, including Brunei
• Must be enrolled in middle or high school (or homeschool equivalent)
• Junior Division: ages 11–14; Senior Division: ages 15–18
• College or university students are not eligible
• Individual and group entries accepted
• Participants under 13 must submit a parental consent form
Description:
This contest offers a space for young people to express themselves through original works of art, writing, film, or music. By exploring the theme, participants will connect their personal stories with global environmental issues. In doing so, they’ll join a global movement of youth using creativity to inspire change.

How to Apply:

Choose your creative category: art, poetry, music, film, dance, or multimedia

Produce an original piece based on this year’s theme

Write a short reflection (100–300 words) explaining your process and message

Include a works cited list if you used references

Submit your entry through the official platform by 9th June 2025
