Deadline: 3rd November 2024 | A regional workshop focusing on accelerating social impact through AI tools and innovation and fostering resilient and diverse network of innovating youth, to be held on February 21st – 26th ,2025 in Chonburi, Thailand. The workshop is fully funded by the U.S. Department of State and is open to all YSEALI members from an ASEAN country or Timor-Leste.
The 6-day immersive workshop in Chonburi, and a series of virtual workshop sessions, 60 youth leaders, social entrepreneurs, and tech enthusiasts from ASEAN and Timor-Leste will gain a deeper understanding on leveraging AI tools and its impact and be equipped with practical skills and experience in developing AI-driven projects – while addressing key societal challenges focus on four of the YSEALI’s core themes: economic empowerment, civic engagement, education, and environmental sustainability. Participants will also have the unique opportunity to connect with young changemakers and experts from across the region, fostering a network of leaders who share a passion for integrating AI to promote social good and inclusive development across Southeast Asia.
The workshop will emphasise the importance of strengthening people-to-people connections, ensuring that technological advancements benefit not just economies but societies at large, and reinforcing the bridge between innovation and human-centric development. Through this workshop, participants will address immediate challenges and lay the groundwork for long-term partnerships and collaborations that will drive positive change and development across the region.
Through the online and in-person workshops, participants will form teams and be guided through a design thinking process to develop ideas and innovative solutions using AI to address social challenges in Southeast Asia. Selected projects will be awarded small grants and mentorship from YSEALI alumni and a team of experts as they implement their ideas. All participants will be invited to join post-workshop virtual sessions to continue learning through the community of practice.
