The UNESCO International Literacy Prizes 2025 honour innovative projects that support literacy development around the world. If you’re leading a programme that improves reading, writing, or digital skills—especially in underserved communities—this is a chance to gain international visibility and funding.
Eligibility:

Open to governments, NGOs, and individuals

Projects must have a proven track record in literacy promotion

Must be nominated by a National Commission for UNESCO or an NGO in official partnership with UNESCO
There are two categories:
• UNESCO King Sejong Literacy Prize – for projects focused on mother-language literacy.
• UNESCO Confucius Prize for Literacy – for efforts benefiting rural youth and adults, particularly using technology.
Five winners will be selected, with a focus on impact, innovation, and sustainability.
