The ASEAN-Korea Young Scholar Research Grant 2026 supports emerging postgraduate researchers working on Southeast Asia, ASEAN and ASEAN-Korea relations. The programme helps young scholars strengthen their research through fieldwork, regional exchange and academic networking.

Eligibility:

  • Open to nationals of an ASEAN Member State or the Republic of Korea
  • Applicants must currently be enrolled in a Master’s or doctoral programme at a recognised institution in ASEAN or Korea
  • Research must relate to Southeast Asian Studies, ASEAN Studies or ASEAN-Korea Studies
  • Priority is given to applicants enrolled at institutions in their home country
  • Research that goes beyond the applicant’s own national context is encouraged
  • Primarily technical or laboratory-based STEM projects are not eligible unless they include a strong social sciences or humanities component

Description:

The grant supports postgraduate researchers in carrying out fieldwork that contributes to a deeper understanding of Southeast Asia and ASEAN-Korea relations.

Selected researchers can undertake fieldwork between late November 2026 and April 2027, with the programme encouraging comparative, cross-country and regionally focused research.
