AFS Global STEM Changemakers is a 12-week online programme for young people interested in using science, technology, engineering and mathematics to address global challenges.
Developed with the University of Pennsylvania Center for Social Impact Strategy, the programme combines intercultural learning, sustainability and social innovation.
Eligibility:
• Aged 15 to 20 when the programme begins
• Born between 1st December 2005 and 1st September 2011
• Able to participate fully in English
• Interested in STEM, sustainability and social impact
• Willing to collaborate with young people from different cultures
• Have access to a suitable device, webcam, microphone and stable internet connection
AFS may be able to provide support where access to technology or the internet is a challenge.
Description:
The virtual exchange will run from 30th August to 22nd November 2026.
Participants will complete weekly live sessions and flexible online activities covering global competence, sustainability and social innovation. The programme requires approximately three to four hours each week.
Scholars will also work with international peers to design and present a social impact project addressing real-world challenges such as climate change, energy transition and artificial intelligence.

Applicants who are under 18 will need to submit a parent or guardian permission form. A recommendation letter is also required.
