The ASEAN-Australia Centre’s Emerging Leaders Program and Short Courses might be for you!
The program supports three cohorts of 25 early-to-mid-career professionals across three thematic sectors. 22 professionals from ASEAN countries and Timor-Leste and three from Australia, are brought together to build networks, deepen cross-cultural connections and develop strategic leadership capabilities.
Each program runs over a three-month period and comprise virtual sessions and a one-week component in Australia. The program offers a balance of theoretical and
practical insights, engagement with external bodies, cultural and social activities, networking and development of a return-to-work plan.
Objectives
The Emerging Leaders Program will support you to:
• expand your knowledge, skills and experience in the sector you work in
• learn from diverse industry experts and program participants through interactive sessions and discussions
• be immersed in cultural experiences and activities
• build connections with other participants from the ASEAN region, Timor-Leste and Australia through formal and informal activities
• network with individuals and organisations relevant to your area of work
• discover Australian First Nations perspectives and experiences through a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony
• explore issues of importance to women, people living with disability and other traditionally marginalised groups
• contribute to efforts in the ASEAN region and Timor-Leste to tackle identified issues, through implementing a return-to-work plan and leveraging your new connections.
Eligibility Criteria
All prospective applicants must adhere to the following eligibility requirements:
• you are a citizen of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Timor-Leste or Australia
• your supervisor endorses your application
• if you are not Australia based, you have a valid passport that meets Australian immigration requirements
• you have professional working proficiency in English (recommended at least IELTS 6.5).
