Overview
The Commonwealth Foundation is offering project grants to civil society organisations (CSOs) working on participatory governance, advocacy, and constructive engagement between civil society and policymakers. The grants aim to amplify marginalized voices, improve accountability, and support inclusive policy dialogues.
Eligibility
Applicants must be not-for‑profit civil society organisations based in a Commonwealth member state. The organisation should have at least three years of experience working on advocacy or participatory governance. Organisations currently receiving a Commonwealth Foundation Grant but not yet having the final payment settled are not eligible. Projects should start after August 1, 2026 and before September 2026.
Priority Themes / Focus Areas
Projects must address one or more of these three priority themes:

Health Justice — e.g. equitable access to medicines, universal health coverage, inclusive health systems

Freedom of Expression — e.g. protections for press freedom, access to information, creative advocacy, enabling CSO engagement

Climate Justice — e.g. climate policy equity, recognizing rights of vulnerable groups, accountability for environmental harm
Grant Amount & Duration
Grants are offered up to £60,000 per project. Projects should generally be designed within the framework of the specified timeline (starting after August 2026, completed thereafter).
