In partnership with Kenan Foundation Asia, the U.S. Mission to ASEAN and the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok are pleased to announce the 2025 U.S.-ASEAN Women’s Leadership Academy for YSEALI (YSEALI WLA: InnovatHer), a fully funded leadership program designed to equip and empower emerging women leaders in technology across Southeast Asia. The academy aims to foster collaboration, innovation, and leadership skills among female professionals working in the tech industry. This year’s program focuses on how technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), can improve the daily lives of women, promote women’s access to the digital economy, and drive meaningful policy advocacy.

The program will include a pre-workshop virtual session, followed by a 6-day (including travel day) in-person workshop in Bangkok, Thailand, and post-workshop program, where participants will learn from expert mentors, industry leaders, and fellow participants through hands-on activities, discussions, and networking opportunities.

Eligibility and qualifications

  • Are women between the ages of 20 to 35.
  • Have professional experience in technology fields, such as artificial intelligence, clean energy, cybersecurity, software development, medical technology, and more.
  • Are citizens and residents of ASEAN member states (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam) or Timor-Leste.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to empowering women through technology and innovation.
  • Show strong leadership potential and have a vision to drive positive change.
  • Have basic proficiency in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Have access to the Internet and basic proficiency in computer applications (e.g., Internet, MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Are able to attend the entire six-day in-person workshop in April 2025 (including traveling day), along with pre- and post-workshop activities from March to October 2025.
