Overview:
The New America Fellows Program backs journalists, scholars, filmmakers, and analysts developing ambitious ideas that impact public discourse. This one-year fellowship is open to international applicants and provides the space, funding, and network to advance independent projects that address today’s most pressing issues.

Eligibility:
• Open to individuals working in journalism, academia, policy, or related fields
• International applicants welcome (not limited to U.S. citizens or residents)
• No academic or professional credential requirements, but a track record of impact is key

Description:
Fellows spend one year pursuing an original project—such as a book, documentary, article series, or policy proposal—that aligns with New America’s mission of renewing the promise of America. Fellows are expected to engage with each other and with the organization’s broader work. Projects can be pursued from anywhere, and the program includes both virtual and in-person gatherings.

Benefits:
• Stipend of $15,000 to $30,000 (unrestricted)
