Deadline: 30th April 2023 | Annual awards for creative and courageous rural women leaders and groups that help to advance and improve the quality of life in rural communities. To date, 476 prizes have been awarded in over 140 countries to selected candidates.
The award (US$ 1000 per laureate) represents solidarity for efforts and obstacles to overcome and is not meant to be a project fund, although in many cases the prize money is re-invested in the laureates’ programs. To achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, rural women are key in delivering results with courage and compassion. They need our solidarity support as they face many challenges in today’s world.
Eligibility:
Nominees should be women and women’s groups currently active in rural life whose efforts have not yet been acknowledged by other awards. They may not nominate themselves.
The nominating organisation or individual must have direct experience of the nominee’s work. The nominator may not nominate a family member, be a member of the nominated organisation, nor can an organisation nominate its senior officers. The nominator commits to organisae an award ceremony if the candidate is selected for the prize, with media invited.
