The World Press Institute (WPI) Fellowship 2026 offers experienced journalists the chance to gain deep insight into press freedom, media innovation, and current affairs in the United States through immersive travel and dialogue.
Eligibility:
• Open to non-U.S. journalists with at least 5 years of full-time experience
• Must be currently working in print, broadcast, or digital media
• Strong command of English (spoken and written) is required
• Freelancers can apply if journalism is their primary profession
Description:
From August to October 2026, fellows will travel across the U.S., visiting newsrooms, universities, think tanks, and cultural institutions. The programme begins with briefings in the Twin Cities, followed by multi-city visits, and ends in Washington, D.C. Fellows will engage in discussions on the role of a free press, challenges in the digital age, and global media trends.
