Overview
The AFS Global STEM Academies is a competitive, fully funded programme that combines virtual learning with an international study abroad experience. It equips young people with knowledge in STEM, sustainability, and global competence. The programme includes a 12-week online phase followed by a four-week in-person academy in countries like Brazil, China, Egypt, or India.
Eligibility

Open only to applicants who are citizens or legal residents of the following countries:
Azerbaijan, Brazil, China, Egypt, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, South Africa, Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, United Kingdom, United States -
Aged 15 to 17.5 years at the start of the programme

Description
The programme begins with a virtual learning experience covering STEM skills, sustainability topics, and social impact design. Those who complete the virtual phase will then travel to one of the host countries for a four-week academy, where they’ll engage in hands-on STEM projects, cultural exchange, community work, and field visits. The experience ends with a certificate in global competence and social impact.
